Restaurant Ready

Restaurant Ready is a training program developed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) to help individuals acquire the basic job and life skills to pursue employment opportunities in the restaurant, foodservice and hospitality industry and jumpstart a pathway to independence. The Ohio Restaurant Association Education Foundation (ORAEF) has partnered with NRAEF to implement this training with community-based organizations throughout the state of Ohio.

Restaurant Ready

Restaurant Ready encompasses six work-ready competency areas, including:

  • Attitude

  • Communication

  • Customer Service

  • Learning

  • Personal Responsibility

  • Industry Specific Skills

Each competency includes learning objectives, assessments and completion requirements, Individuals learn through a series of activities, and role-playing scenarios. The length of training program, specific curriculum and program structures varies from community-based organizations. The program can be completed in a few weeks or a few months. The ORAEF works closely with their community-based partners to provide mentoring and employment opportunities to prepare individuals for a career and path to independence.
