16th Annual Ohio ProStart Invitational & 2nd Annual Burger Battle

Get ready for the 16th Annual ProStart Invitational presented by Gordon Food Serive on Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Crowne Plaza North in Worthington.

Culinary and Management student teams will compete for top honors in this two-day competition. The top culinary and management teams will represent Ohio ProStart in Providence, Rhode Island April 27-29, 2018 at the National ProStart Invitational.

The Burger Battle will take place on Saturday, February 24, from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. One and two student teams will compete for the honor of making the tastiest burger creation in Ohio. The Beef Council will supply the beef for the burgers and the trophies and prizes to the top teams.

15th Annual Ohio ProStart Invitational​

The 16th Annual ProStart Invitational was held on February 24 & 25 at the Crowne Plaza North.

The Invitational's culinary competition highlights each team’s creative abilities through the preparation of a three-course meal in 60 minutes, using only two butane burners, and without access to running water or electricity. There is no room for error as they are evaluated on taste, skill, teamwork, safety and sanitation.

Management Teams develop a concept for a new restaurant and present it to judges from industry and post-secondary education. Students are evaluated on their concept, marketing strategies, menu, recipes and food costs, operations and critical thinking skills. 1st Annual Burger Battle

Sponsored by the Ohio Beef Council. Nine student teams competed for top honors and the results are as follows:

1st Place - Jane Addams Business Careers Center (Cleveland) – the winning burger, Ohio Beef Burger which featured homemade ricotta cheese and a pizza dough bun that wowed the industry judges with its juicy and tender flavor

#2 – Penta Career Center (Perrysburg) - Spanish Burger – cheese sauce, salsa and onion combination produced a wonderful flavor

#3 – Lancaster High School – Team #12 (Lancaster) – West Coast Burger – with additions of kale, cheese, and avocado on toasted bun
