Ohio ProStart, the exclusive industry training program for high school juniors and seniors pursuing culinary arts and restaurant management careers, is hosting its first golf outing on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at Fox Meadow Country Club in Medina.
The Ohio ProStart Golf Outing is in need of golf foursomes, sponsors and prize donations. The cost per golfer is $175.00. Sponsorship packages range from $500 - $2,500. Click here to see the sponsorship opportunities.
Find complete information and event registration by clicking here. ProStart receives partial funding from the state budget to operate its program; however, it also relies on the support of fundraising events to supplement its budget and the golf outing is the major event for this year.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Lunch, beverages and after-play appetizers are all included in the cost.
Lancaster High School Team Places First
Seven student teams competed at the first ever ProStart Capital City Burger Battle held at the Ohio State Fair on July 30. Each team had 30 minutes to cook and prepare their best burger creation on butane burners without the use of water or electricity. Ohio High Point Career Center, Ponitz Career and Technology Center, and Lancaster High School all had multiple student teams compete.
There were an illustrious panel of 10 industry judges from around Ohio and surrouding area who scored the competition in the areas of product check in, sanitarian, work skills, taste and appearance, and menu and recipe.
The third place burger, West Coast Burger included kale, sliced mushrooms, barbeque sauce, avocado slices and Provolone cheese was prepared by Jake Glenaman. The Island Burger placed second and included smoked cheddar cheese, spam, and lettuce on a Challah bun prepared by Thomas Anders and Rebekah Steelman. The winning burger, the Hawaiian Burger took top honors with its combination of pineapple slices, teriyaki sauce, red onion, Provolone cheese as well as secret ingredient for added flavor on a Challah bun prepared by Hannah Glenn and Morgan Philbrick.
The Ohio Beef Council sponsored this event and provided the beef used to prepare the burgers. The Beef Council presented trophies to the winning team as well as all three teams won scholarship awards to Sullivan University. Look for the 2nd Annual ProStart Capital City Burger Battle at the 2018 Ohio State Fair. Congratulations to all the ProStart teams that competed as you all great job.

Polaris Career Center Wins Back-to-Back National ProStart Invitational Culinary Championships
Polaris Career Center's culinary team captured top honors for the second consecutive year at the recent National ProStart Invitational in Charleston, South Carolina. They competed against 48 other teams and emerged victorious with their appetizer of seared Foie Gras, entree of Ohio lamb loin topped off with a salted caramel Gainduja mousse for dessert.
Penta Career Center competed in the management portion of the competition and placed in the top ten with their Sprouts start up restaurant concept.
